 North Sikim Diary .....

Day 3 ..9th April 2021 ..After doing all the formalities for the permit to visit north , we have started around 12.30 from Gangtok ..Lachung is 109 km away from Gangtok ..we reached Lachung by evening 7.30 ..in between heavy rain and total darkness as power cut and generator get damaged of that particular hotel ..Managed somehow..
Day .4 .10th April …it was a sunny morning …started for Yamthang valley and zero point which is 27 km away …..Yamthang valley of flower was the key attraction ,in April –May different species of rhododendron covers entire area and it becomes paradise for flower lovers …but we missed it as reached there little early …roads open only just 2 days before and everywhere the sign of disaster by heavy snowfall ..all the light post are broken by the glacier and big stones coming down from the high hills …flowers yet to come ……Yamthang is 11693 ft and zero is 14500 ft ,there is less oxygen and it becomes difficult to breath for all ,specially for elderly people ..Scared about Maa , but fortunately everything goes well ..the picnic with biscuit ,boiled egg etc in Yamthang valley will be a lifetime memory for all of us .
After spending almost 2 hours in these paradise we move back to hotel, where lunch was ready for us and after lunch head towards Lachen , which is another location in North Sikim ,reach there by evening ..

Few lines on recent visit to Mondarmoni and Digha during Durga puza .2024. It is almost 180 km drive from Kolkata to reach Mondarmoni ,where you will find some beautiful resort attached to the sea and very comfortable to play in the beach as you can directly access your room and swimming pool  etc from the beach ,where in other beaches changing your cloth ,bathing etc is a challenge after playing in the sea . The most important is that here you can enjoy your freedom as it is almost becomes like your private beach as there is no such crowd as Digha .Even in Durga puza  holiday also, we have enjoyed it with almost nil crowd ..Our stay was in one of the economic resort " Hotel sankhabela "  available with swimming pool .   Like every year ,after a hectic march ,I have decided for a trip in the April and like every time ,I informed all my friend circle to accompany and as always ..Finally started on 7 th April, Sunday Morning alone …   Godo  ,who has been  accompanying me from his high school age almost in all my journey is the only person with us..Who has finalized his tour just before 2 days. Dhunu is very happy to get him as a partner. We are about to start early, but could manage only on by 8.30 and reach Tezpur ( Jorhat –Tezpur ,162 km ,Google time 3.42 hrs ) by around 1 pm , One of our friend has suggested to take the internal road through Porua Chariali to avoid the Jam near Mission Chariali ,as a new over bridge construction is going on .We stopped near Porua Chariali ,purchage some fruits and discussed with shopkeeper ,about the road ..he suggested to go through Mission Chariali …"Aram se ja sakte he " ..
