Like every year ,after a hectic march ,I have decided for a trip in the April and like every time ,I informed all my friend circle to accompany and as always ..Finally started on 7th April, Sunday Morning alone …
We are about to start early, but could manage only on by 8.30 and reach Tezpur ( Jorhat –Tezpur ,162 km ,Google time 3.42 hrs ) by around 1 pm , One of our friend has suggested to take the internal road through Porua Chariali to avoid the Jam near Mission Chariali ,as a new over bridge construction is going on .We stopped near Porua Chariali ,purchage some fruits and discussed with shopkeeper ,about the road ..he suggested to go through Mission Chariali …"Aram se ja sakte he " ..
We had a fine experience of Borliuit Dhaba at Bihaguri ,last time on our Nepal tour, very cool place to have homely food .We had lunch there and started around 2.30 pm towards Orang …(Tezpur-Orang ,50 km,google time 1.29 hrs )
After Orang ,as advised by friend Anjan ,we took the Majbat road and reached Balimu where the check gate of Arunachal govt is there . (Orang-Balemu ,54 km ,google time 1.21 hrs )..Very good road condition .
Usually at the time of entering Arunachal , in other gates like Roing etc ,there is a provision of instant inner line permit in the gate itself on showing valid govt ID proof .Unfortunately because of the election this time they have asked for inner line permit which need to be prepared properly through officer and ask us to go for that .They directed us to Xerox center which is in the down lane and kept my driving license as security.It took almost 30 min to make it Xerox and getting approved by official after depositing a fee of 250 per person..it seems costlier than other places ..in Roing its only 25 Rs .
Any way after completing all the formalities we started towards Shergaon (balemu-shergaon ,79 km ,google time 2.15 min ) , through the zigzag hilly road ,took a cup of tea in the road side stall ..it was a pleasant experience as it was about to sunset and all the beauty of the evening through the hilltop scattered in the valley downstairs.
But whenever we go upwards , Dhunu started feeling uneasy as the road was too tough and at one point of time I need to stop the car to make her comfortable …Pory gave her orange to stop the vomiting tendency . I also got chance to take a tamool (beetle nut) break.
Reached Shergaon at around 8 pm ,the town is still open and people are loitering here and there ..which is a different experience ..usually it closes by 6/7 pm maximum according to our previous experiences in other places ..feel good to see that and found out the the booked home stay with the help of google map .. …”your destination is in your left “ ….A beautiful newly constructed 3 storied building full of flowers all around and a beautiful apple tree ..I am confused..Are we in the right place??
Yes , a very beautiful homestay ,blossom homestay with homely gesture with good food and reasonable rate .
Had dinner in the top floor ,in a shining kitchen ,covered by pinewood ..Cold breezes coming down from shella top hitting us all giving a feel of snow covered mountain ..Delicious veg thali was served .I donot know how the same Dal became so tasty out here ..Same applies to noodle and momo etc ,which taste you cant get in any damm restaurant in plain . Had a chat with the owner lady ,who was taking care of our dinner with her staff and saying goodnight to her , we immediately jumped into the bed ..Tired of the whole day journey from Jorhat to Shergaon through Orang ,Majbat (Total 345 Km ,) which took almost 12 hour .(Google time 9 hour ).
Morning we started early ,get a quick look at shergaon around ,as yesterday we reached here after sunset only ,there is a little park with 2 statue of the ancestor of local tribes ,Beautiful flowers with different pine tree covers the mountain around ,with the beautiful blue river downstairs ..Cold wind breezes hitting all around and overall it was a so called beautiful morning ..
Quickly decided to move on as time passing out and its already 10 am .. and we need to reach sela top which is 150 km from shergaon and according to Google it takes 4 hr . started driving through the beautiful valley with the newly constructed 2 lane road ,Defence colonies are scattered all around near Rupa with huge grass field downstairs giving a very peaceful look with high altitude mountains ..After reaching Rupa you need to take left for Bomdila and road towards right will take you to bhalukpung ..Tezpur . From here the approaching old road for Bomdila is very tough ,You can avoid the traffic and the single road of Bomdila by taking the bypass on your right and it will connect you to the Dirang Road bifurkating the Bomdilla town ,The junction where by pass and the town road connect ,there is a market ,specially available all kind of local fruits etc with local kiwi wine .you should taste it ,took some local apple and a kiwi wine bottle out here and move towards Dirang ..The road here is very wide and good condition up to Dirang (Bomdila –Dirang ,40 km ,1 hr )..
Reached Dirang around 1 pm, and our searching of good and hygienic places started for lunch, this is a very unique experience every time moving around, to find a hygienic place to have food ,finally stop at the line hotel where all the tourist cars were parked .Have food and again moved towards Sela .
The roads seems very dry and dhunu is everytime complaining on the whole road…if we will not get the snow then why we are coming here .she becames frustrated passing all the road without a sign of any snowfall ..I was also doubtfull ,but 5/6 days ahead I hv seen one of my friends updates about Baisakhee camp which was full of snow ..Somehow trying to console her that we will get it on sela top ,but not very much confident on what I am saying ..Still calculating that if there is a fully covered snow 5/6 days back it should not be vanished in one go and we will surely get some for the little one ..
Suddeny a diversion came ..In the right hand side old single road ,there was a broke down army vehicle picking up by a recovery van ..we stopped for a while and asked the nearby person ..He suggested us ..If you want to enjoy snow ,go right hand side ,with the single road which will take you to sela top …
And the other left hand side beautiful road will take you to the tunnel and by pass the sela pass.
I immediately moved towards my right with the narrow gap given by the recovery van and started climbing the sela top .It is just around 15 year ,when I visited this mighty place with my Alto ,Maa was there with me ,the road condition was horrible but it was so thrilling ,so full of excitement …..I was negotiating with the sharp curves remembering all these ,then only I came to sense again with the shouting sound of my little doughter Dhunu ..Ice ice ..Oh ..yes there are hip of Ice in the side of the road ,, the frequency of this kind of small hip was increasing slowly and finally we reached the top which was fully covered by white snow ..Dhunu was very happy and played a lot ….
You will get 2 lake on sela .snow covered lake view always attract me ..may be its Gurunagmer ,May be at Nathula …may be at sela …
Found a little boy who was facing respiration problem ,her mother was tring to make him comfortable ..if you run and speak lot in this high altitude ..as oxygen is low out here ,you may face such situation and sometime may lead to critical issue ..Always be careful..I gave her a chocolate...corn..Chocolate etc used for immediate relief.
Reached our prebooked home stay at jang and took rest for the day .
Till now we were not sure about our final destination .may go to Tawang or may not ..But finally at todays dinner we had decided to go back from Jang falls .
Morning breakfast at Jang falls turned out to a classic one as served a very hot tasty momo …The shoapkeeper becames helpless with our confusing orders …because all foods are so delicious at that point of time ..we ended up having 3 plates of hot momo ..one plate alu shop ,,,one maggy with hot tea . Dhunu usually denied all kind of food everytime,But here she had one full plate momo ..very surprising for all of us ..These foods are really so tasty and homely .
Return journey from any trip is a mixed kind of fellings …getting some thing and at the same time missing something ….We will miss this beautiful roads ..mountains ,river ,,,foods and peoples …On the otherhand we are going to get home ..sweet home ..Very difficult to explain the feels .
From Jang we started at around 11 and after having lunch etc we reach Nag mandir in the evening around 6 ..
All others are not in a mood to take the entire stretch in today only and asking me to search a hotel ..for a break journey ..I was in a mood to cover upto Jorhat …
When we reached Nag Mandir , I though ,it would have been better if we could have visited this holly place ,but its already too late so I left the idea …with a pranam from the road only ..
I had a bad experience by not visiting this place initially, that I have written in my different blog .Today also I got little confused..Should we go forward by not visiting the temple ….??
Going down with a confusing mind and after taking the big curve near the bridge suddenly we saw a good place with bright light and enquired ,found a suitable hotel with reasonable rate with all amenities ..take it as a blessing from Nagbaba and immediately decided to stay back ,so that morning we can do the Darshan before going back to home ...Finally next day morning we have visited the holly place and ended our short tour with a pure mind and reached Jorhat in the evening through Bhalukpung ..tezpur ..( Tenga –Jorhat ,296 km ,6.30 hrs ).
